30 million tourists flocked to the Caribbean in a year


Being impressed by its untouched natural beauties and magnificent sea, many holidaymakers, especially the billionaires are travelling to the Caribbean islands every year. Nearly 30 million tourists arrived in the Caribbean in 2016.

Hugh Riley, the Secretary General of the Caribbean Tourism Organization based in Central Barbados, declared that 29 million people visited the Caribbean Islands in 2016. The majority of tourists came from the USA. The ratio of tourists coming from Europe increased by 11 percent in 2016 compared to the previous year. Riley also noted that 26.3 million passenger ships cam to the region last year. Despite the fact that the tourists spent $ 33.5 billion in the region last year, there is a decrease in the rate of occupancy of the hotels.
