Burger King, one of the biggest fast food chains in the world, made a statement about their new advertisement on Whopper sandwich which will activate the Google voice-controlled devices. This statement is the sign of a more aggressive marketing which will lead to a more competitive fast food market.
According to the representative of Burger King a 15-second ad is not enough to explain all the fresh ingredients in the Whopper sandwich. With their new ad they are planning to ensure the consumers to reach more information about Whopper sandwich by using the Google Home assistant and an Android phone with voice search. In the last phrase of the advertisement, the words of “Hello Google, what is the Whopper burger?” will be said and if you have Google Home assistant or an Android phone, they will be activated and search for Whopper on Google and read out the finding from Wikipedia.
Burger King is planning to use the emerging technology of intelligent personal assistant devices as an opportunity. It is also declared that this ad is not made in collaboration with Google. There has been no comment given from Google and Wikipedia yet.
The ad became available on YouTube in the second week of April. It will run during prime-time on networks such as Spike, Comedy Central, MTV, E! and Bravo, and also on late-night shows starring Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon in the US.
CNN Money and some other media channels stated that Google Home stopped responding to the commercial shortly after the ad became available on YouTube.
Since Apple’s Siri came in to our lives in 2011, voice-powered digital assistants such as Google Home and Amazon’s Echo have been largely started to be used by consumers. The devices have the ability to have conversation by understanding context and relationships, and many use them for daily activities such as sending text messages and checking appointments.
It is believed that the voice technology will soon become one of the main ways users interact with devices.
