James Munby, a high court judge in England made a press release about the status of the elderly couples’ being forced to stay apart from each other. He stated that their being forced to stay away from eachother without willingness is nonhuman. In the news published in The Times, James Munby, described this situation in an “inhumane” statement.
Munby, speaking to officials interested in the couple in this situation, stated that priority should be given to the happiness of couples who have been together for decades rather than dealing with procedures and safety rules. He added that he learned that some elderly couples in vulnerable conditions were not allowed to stay together who have been together fo 30, 40, or even 50 years.
The Adass organization, which carries out social services for the elderly people, explains to The Times that they have not exact information about how many people have been forced to leave eachother within years.
James Munby, who brought the issue on the agenda, also mentioned the fact that many people lost their lives because of broken heart. The real reason why this issue created such kind of a reaction is the fact that a total of 300 thousand elderly people live in nursing homes in England and Wales according to the reports of BBC.
