SpaceX launched spy satellite from Florida for the US Army


SpaceX sent a rocket carrying a spy satellite for the United States Army. It was declared that the rocket named NROL-76 successfully landed in the orbit. It is the first time that the spacecraft and rocket producer SpaceX sent spy satellites for the United States Army.

SpaceX which is based on Hawthorne, California announced that the NROL-76 successfully landed in the orbit. Elon Musk, the founder of the SpaceX declared the successful landing of the NROL-76 via social media. The company did not provide any information about satellite due to national security.

The rocket carrying the spy satellite was planned to be launched on 30 April 2017. But, the launch day was postponed because of the adverse weather conditions.

SpaceX has signed an agreement to make a business alliance with the United States Army in 2015. The Air Force Command of the United States had approved the company’s launch of military and intelligence satellites. Military and intelligence satellites of the US Army have been launching via the joint ventures established by Lockheed Martin and Boeing companies since 2006. With the agreement between the US Army and SpaceX in 2015, SpaceX Company became the biggest rival of these two companies.

SpaceX, which was founded by Elon Musk in 2002, has signed an agreement with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for the supply of US space shuttles to the International Space Station after abandonment of the use of old spacecrafts in 2011.
