According to the results of the recent researches, it is determined that stress does not just adversely affect our psychology and health, but also it disrupts the working rhythm of the brain and it causes some neurological problems.
Some reactions develop in our brains against stress. In order to overcome the stress, some fields in the brain take action and try to protect the normal function of the body. These systems show protective and supportive effects in tissues which experience temporary stress. In fact, if the stress lasts long and repeats frequently, the immune system weakens and the protection system developed in the brain may stop. According to some studies, stress disturbs the process of the prefrontal cortex (PFK), which is involved in many cognitive events such as thought, memory, prediction and decision making. It is also important to notice that this region of the brain is also closely related with major depressive disorder. Namely, being under stress may raise such neurologic diseases.
Another important result of the recent studies about stress released that stress also destroys memory functions such as the creation of new memories or the recall of old ones. This is also the reason why people cannot think well and feel their minds are emptied in crisis situations.
Stress also set off headaches. One of the reasons of migraine which is the most common seen headache disorders is having stressful situations. It has been known that stress also triggers the attacks in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) which is an immune system disease that affects the brain and spinal cord.
It is unfortunately not possible to remove stress from our lives completely. However, if we want to prevent the occurrence of psychological and physical diseases originating from the stress and if you want to increase your life quality, you must solve these stressful issues as soon as possible, and if you cannot find solutions, you must remove them from your lives.
