Twitter is entering a new space with an important move, even if it’s not too surprising!
The newest plans of Twitter were released at a company meeting where they talked about their first quarter revenues. According to the news of the social magazine BuzzFeed News, the company is planning to broadcast live video content on its own platform covering news, sports, and entertainment 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
It’s not yet declared when Twitter’s 24 hours a day, seven days a week video launch will begin. Antony Noto, the CFO and the COO of the Twitter said in a statement to BuzzFeed News that they would definitely include 24/7 video content on Twitter. Thus, when you want to see what’s going on in the social media and even in the world, you will enter Twitter.
The company had started to broadcast NFL games live in September 2016 and reached a number of 3.5 million unique viewers. Thus, despite being an innovative attempt, the news about broadcasting live videos on Twitter did not create enough excitement in social media.
Twitter had lost a big tender to Amazon. Amazon took the right to broadcast live matches during the 2017-2018 seasons, which costs a great deal of earnings to Twitter. The final attempt of Twitter is seen as looking for ways to compensate its lost.
As Twitter starts constantly broadcasting, it will have more chances to sell non-skipped 15 to 30 second advertisements. To gain much more from this area, it is planning to offer more sports content. Of course all of these new implementations will start in the United States in the first stage.
