40,000 AT & T employees affiliated to the Communications Employees Union of the United States launched a 2-day work stoppage for not being satisfied with their contracts. The strike started on 20th May will end on 22nd May.
The strike will occur in the 36 states of the US. According to the Communications Workers of America some of the AT & T stores in the states will be closed due to the job-leaving action and this will contribute to the voice of the action.
AT & T’s employees want to talk to the company about the salary increases, more comprehensive health insurance, better working hours, and no reduction in force. 17 thousand of the 40 thousand workers who have gone to strike is working in the home phone, internet and cable internet divisions of the AT&T’s California, Nevada and Connecticut offices and 2 thousand is working in the TV department in California and Nevada. The 21,000 people working in the company’s operator’s part are also among those who have work stoppage. The strike involves less than 14 percent of AT&T’s nearly 265,000 employees.
It is announced by the authorities of the company that AT&T was prepared to continue serving customers as a group of employees represented by the Communications Workers of America went a weekend strike.
