Digital Assistants set to outnumber people in 2021

It is estimated that the digital assistants can reach a number more than the total human population in just 5 years. According to the study of the research and consulting company Ovum, the number of devices with digital assistances will exceed 7.5 billion up to 2021. According to the US Census Bureau, this number is more than the current population of the world.

In this research, Ovum discusses past and future of the digital assistants. The company states that there were about 3.5 billion active digital assistants in 2016 and that this number will increase with the growth of digital assistant devices in the near future. Many of the devices that currently host digital assistants are smartphones, but Amazon Echo and Google Home, smart TVs, connected cars and smart speakers will cause an increase exponentially in the number of digital assistants.

According to Ovum’s estimations, Google Assistant will be the leader of the market which will be followed by Chinese assistants and then Siri and Samsung Bixby. These estimations have probably been made by considering the popularity of the related phones. At the end of the sequence are Alexa from Amazon and Cortana from Microsoft.

Language and international popularity are among the biggest factors that will affect these results. Ovum reported that about 95 percent Alexa and Google Assistant are located in North America, while Siri is close to 24 percent. When it is mentioned about the mass markets in Asia and emerging markets in some parts of Africa, it is not yet certain that which assistant is preferred the most.

As a result, if you still do not have a digital assistant, consider buying one soon. Both do not stay behind the technology and make your life easier with a digital assistant.
