Global food prices rose in June


According to the recent data announced by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, Food Price Index increased by 2.5 points in June compared to the previous month and reached a level of 175.2 points.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO) announced that global food commodity prices have risen in June. FAO announced the Food Price Index, which is determined by following the trade of the five main food groups, which consist of grain, vegetable oil, dairy products, meat and sugar at international markets, rose in June 2017.

In the FAO statement, the Food Price Index rose by 2.5 points (1.4 percent) compared to the previous month in June, rising to 175.2 points, and the price increase in cereal, dairy products and meat groups played a role in the rise of the index. In the statement, the Grain Price Index rose 6.2 points (4.2 percent) compared to the previous month in June and rose to 154.3 points, the index reached the highest level in the last year.

The Dairy Products Price Index increased 20.9 points in June, up 15.9 points (8.3 percent) from the previous month, while the Meat Price Index was also 175.2 points in the same period, climbing 3.2 points (1.8 percent) in the same period.

On the other hand, the Vegetable Oil Price Index dropped by 6.5 points (3.9 percent) to 162.1 points in June compared to the previous month. The Sugar Price Index also fell by 31 points (13.4 percent) in the same period and reached the lowest level of 197.3 pounds the landing was recorded.

In the statement, FAO reported that it expects global cereal production to be 2 billion 593 million tons this year, pulling down 1.2 million tons of global cereal supply expectation for this year.
