Most of the technology followers have been wondering if Sony sent Xperia X and Xperia X Compact models to the phone graveyard. The official statement from Sony came to stop our curiosity.
News about the decision of Sony to stop the sales of Xperia X and Xperia X Compact smart phones surprised most of the Xperia lovers. According to the report at Xperiablog.net, Sony will finalize the “Premium Standard” category, which also includes the Xperia X and X Compact smartphones. With this news, most of us have the idea that the sale of X and X Compact models and the end of support would have already come out. Authorities of Sony gave press release in order to clarify the issue.
According to the statement of the Mobile Communications Marketing Director of Sony, Don Mesa, the Premium Standard category, including Xperia X and X Compact models, will end this year. However, sales and support of the X and X Compact models will continue.
Explaining that they will continue to diversify their products in the mid-segment which is their flagship segment, and that they will continue to focus on the mid-segment, Don Mesa states that they are leaving the Premium Standard category, which we can name as the “middle-upper segment” between the two categories.
Sony also announced that the new products are not far away. Sony will introduce new smartphones at the IFA fair, which will be held in Berlin in September. There, we will probably meet with two new models from the flagship segment that Sony said will focus on. One of them will be the XZ Premium, while the other will be the Xperia XZs model.
